Artist Statement
My artwork and design lives at the intersection between practical and pleasing. It lives to accomplish a goal, and does so while creating a particular aesthetic and feeling within the audience.
My capstone project focuses on creating an experience that empowers users to flourish in their personal progression within the world of competitive gaming. It does so while maintaining a reserved, objective, and transformative design style and flow. I intend it to communicate powerful data and aid in the learning and iteration process for the user as a player and competitor.
My work primarily resides within the digital domain, as that lends itself best to my styles of work. I focus on the representation of the dystopian, dramatic, and moody illustration of the present in my photography and design. Projects usually start as a synthesis from nothing on a spontaneous idea, growing larger as attempts are thrown at the wall.
My inspiration heavily comes from the works of the present and the works depicting the sci-fi near future that we could very soon move into within the next 50 years to 100 years. There's an underlying fascination in my mind of the possibilities and doomsday-or-not scenarios that our world will likely move to in some capacity. In other words, my work follows the ideas and hypotheses of the future of our society, and depicts my internal reactions and feelings exhibited from that school of thought.
